what is the best peer to peer or file sharing program? thanks

Not sure there is a ‘best’ to be honest. Torrents are becoming a popular way to share files. Azureus and Bittorrent are two of the most commonly used clients. eMule is a popular p2p client as well.

Hey gearjammer thumbs down on you. These programs are not only used for music damn ignorant fool. I have a gig of personal writeups off p2ps in subjects that I study. FYI !!!!!!!

Bit torrent files are the BEST to use these days. The slow old way is a P2P Proggie. Don’t use Lime Wire, Kazzam, Grokster ETC. As they are FULL of Spy-ware. I suggest you use BitLord. And then find torrent web sights to find torrents to download what you are looking for. If you are heart set then use kazaa lite for a P2P program. it will take some looking but it is still out there on the net. I used it about a week ago and there were over 4 million people useing it still. BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE KAZAA-LITE! Not kazaa or Kazamm or ANY of that other Crap out there. Or you will be infected with a ton of addware and Spyware!

I am a little confused. Does megaupload work similarly to something like limewire in the sense that it is peer to peer file sharing and when someone downloads a file they are then themselves uploading it to others who wish to download the same file (you know, when everyone shares a small part of a file with one anther?) Or with Megaupload when one person downloads a file does their computer activity end there? the reason i ask this question is that i have heard when someone uses a website like Limewire they can then be unknowingly uploading files from their computer regardless of their firewall settings not allowing uploading or downloading - or does this only happen if you have downloading file-sharing software (which i have not).

megaupload is not peer to peer. p2p comes straight from the other person. megaupload files are uploaded to the site, to be downloaded later.

To answer your Q. You don’t upload anything to megaupload, unless you choose to. Otherwise you’re only downloading the file you’re wanting.

torrents are good cause you can download many things, when some p2p programs would never find. downloading torrents is great, there arent any annoying ads, no spywares that would track which sites you are visiting, nothing. only pure downloading :]

the only problem about torrents is when there arent any seeders, so then you cant download. otherwise the speed is excellent.

Should this program be running just during downloading and file sharing, or all the time, to receive the best protection? Is it even necessary to have it open any other time?

I leave mine running 24/7, it never gets in the way of anything and more protection the merrier =) While surfing the web i do click the "allow http" but other than that it just sits there all day in my taskbar.

I had Kazaa lite in the past but friends are recommending Limewire, Bearshare, Bit Torrent, Shareaza, etc…

I want:
A large file base to pull from
Fastest downloads
Fewest adds
Easiest interface
Ability to handle large files
Fewest imposter files
Least spyware/virus
Music, images, movies, etc…

Limewire. Its the best.
