What are seeders?
Torrenting works by sharing files through your computer, you create a torrent and people download from your computer, you are hosting the file. Seeders are people who have already downloaded the file from you and people are downloading from them too. The more seeders, the more people that have the file and are sharing it, the faster the download 
So if you download a torrent please seed, seeding starts automatically after thhe torrent is done.
What are leechers?
Leechers are people that don’t have the entire file, only parts of it. SO if there are 0 seeders and some leechers, you might never finish the download.
You’re a leecher until the download completes, then you’re a seeder.

BitTorrent President Ashwin Navin: It’s Time for the Carriers to Upgrade
Ashwin Navin, the president and co-founder of BitTorrent, says that peer-to-peer file sharing as a video delivery platform is a reality — demanded by consumers and by by scores of media companies.
It’s time, he says, for the carriers to upgrade their systems to accommodate P2P protocols. He told me that BitTorrent has been working with carriers in solving these issues.
I interviewed him yesterday at the NewTeeVee conference in San Francisco. We spoke right after his luncheon panel.
